The emotionally intelligent leader/conductor creates an environment where they and their students thrive musically, academically, and interpersonally. Music educators receive significant training in musicianship and teaching strategies; few receive training in effective leadership.
This 90-minute session will focus on the development of emotional intelligence of the ensemble conductor, including self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. As the conductor learns to harness their own emotions and feelings, they can then begin to influence the emotions and feelings of the members of their ensemble; thus motivating students to focus and work in their classroom.
Attendees will leave this interactive session with specific strategies to immediately implement in their own lives, as well as in their classroom.
